For years, African artificial intelligence researchers and commercial labs have voiced frustration over the 'compute roadblock'—the acute scarcity of local GPU supercomputing power that forced developers to route African data to European and American servers.

In response, NVIDIA has cemented an unprecedented alliance with Pan-African digital conglomerate Cassava Technologies, designating Cassava as the premier pan-African NVIDIA Cloud Partner. The initiative is actively establishing dedicated 'AI Factories' across South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Egypt.

These state-of-the-art computational hubs provide African sovereign research institutes and private startups with on-demand access to advanced NVIDIA computing nodes, enabling local training of foundation models without violating national data sovereignty laws.

'We are moving from an era where Africa exports raw data and imports finished AI models to one where African intelligence is trained on African soil,' noted Cassava's Chief Technology Officer at the launch in Nairobi.
